Nissan Kicks vs. Sentra vs. Rogue: Which Nissan Fits Your New Orleans Life?

Three popular Nissans, three different ways to drive

If you want a small, easy-to-park crossover, start with the Nissan Kicks. If you want a sedan for daily commuting, look at the Nissan Sentra. If you need the most room for passengers and cargo, the Nissan Rogue is the step up. All three seat five, and the right one depends on how you drive each week.

The Kicks, Sentra, and Rogue are the Nissans our customers choose most often at Xtreme Nissan in New Orleans. Below, we compare the 2027 models using Nissan's published specs, so you can narrow your list before you visit.

How do the Kicks, Sentra, and Rogue compare in size?

The Kicks is a subcompact crossover. At 171.9 inches long, it's about 11 inches shorter than the Sentra, which helps in tight city parking, and it has 8.4 inches of ground clearance. Nissan lists up to 30 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat, depending on trim.

The Sentra is a compact sedan, 183 inches long. Its 14.3-cubic-foot trunk keeps cargo out of sight, and it has the most front legroom of the three at 44 inches.

The Rogue is a compact SUV and the roomiest of the three. Nissan lists 36.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, up to 72.4 cubic feet with the second row folded, and 38.5 inches of rear legroom, which matters if you carry kids, coworkers, or gear.

Which one is best for commuting on I-10?

For long highway stretches, the Sentra's longer, lower sedan body is built for commuting, and its trunk keeps work bags and groceries out of sight. If you cross the Twin Span or run I-10 every day, take it on the interstate during your test drive. Every 2027 Sentra is front-wheel drive.

The Kicks works well for shorter city trips and stop-and-go traffic, where its size is an advantage. It comes with front-wheel drive, and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is available, including on the Rock Creek trim.

The Rogue adds a 201-horsepower 1.5-liter VC-Turbo engine. It's offered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the Rock Creek and Platinum trims come with all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive can help with traction in heavy rain, but it doesn't replace slowing down, and no vehicle should be driven into a flooded street.

Fuel economy differs by model, trim, and drivetrain. Check current ratings at fueleconomy.gov before you compare.

What about technology and safety features?

All three offer driver-assist and smartphone features, but what's standard depends on the model and trim. Here's where the 2027 models stand:

  • Kicks

Every 2027 Kicks, starting with the base S, has a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. ProPILOT Assist comes on the SR.

  • Sentra

The 2027 Sentra also has a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, starting with the S. ProPILOT Assist comes on the SL and is available on the SR with the Premium Package.

  • Rogue

Most 2027 Rogue trims use an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Platinum steps up to a 12.3-inch screen with a wireless connection. ProPILOT Assist and Nissan Safety Shield 360 are available.

Cost of ownership

Which one fits your budget?

Your total cost depends on more than the sticker. Model, trim, insurance, fuel use, and financing all play a part. In Nissan's published pricing, the Kicks and Sentra start lower than the Rogue, which costs more and gives you more room.

Shopping pre-owned can stretch your budget further. Browse our used inventory for earlier model years of all three, and get pre-approved so you know your options before you shop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Nissan Kicks an SUV or a car?

The Kicks is a subcompact crossover. It rides higher than a sedan like the Sentra but is smaller than a compact SUV like the Rogue.

Which is bigger, the Nissan Rogue or the Nissan Kicks?

The Rogue is bigger, with 38.5 inches of rear legroom versus 34.5 in the Kicks, plus more cargo room. Nissan lists up to 72.4 cubic feet in the 2027 Rogue with the second row folded.

Is the Sentra better than the Kicks for highway driving?

The Sentra's longer, lower sedan body suits highway miles, while the shorter Kicks is easier to park in the city. Test drive both on the roads you use most.

Does the 2027 Sentra come with all-wheel drive?

No. Every 2027 Sentra is front-wheel drive. If all-wheel drive matters to you, look at the Kicks or the Rogue, which both offer it.

Is the Rogue always the better buy because it's bigger?

Not necessarily. If you rarely carry passengers or large cargo, a Kicks or Sentra may cost less to buy and run and still meet your needs.

Can I finance a Kicks, Sentra, or Rogue at Xtreme Nissan?

Yes. You can apply online or with our finance team. Approval and terms depend on your credit and lender requirements.

Can I test drive all three on the same visit?

Yes. Contact us or schedule online, and we'll check which models and trims are available before you arrive.
